The present moment represents one of the greatest
times to be alive in human history. We have so much going on in the world and
the ample opportunities available to make a difference have never been this
high. Everyone and anyone has an equal opportunity to make a difference in any
sphere of life. The question however is how do you make a difference if you are
unable to spot an opening, traditionally referred to as an opportunity? How do
you spot an opportunity in a world where everyone is denouncing the lack of
these opportunities? The answer to that question is one of the most basic but
fundamental answers that you will ever get, how many of you have heard people
especially those that are successful say “opportunities are everywhere, you
just need to look for them and embrace them when they come your way”? Most people’s
sentiments to statements like that are often along the lines of, “I have been
trying but I cannot seem to get through, or maybe these opportunities are
reserved for certain people because I have never been that lucky”! I have news
for you, opportunities are reserved for all people and it’s never luck, people
that put in the work are eventually rewarded but most people give up easily and
in most times they give up without realising how close they were to a
breakthrough. Most of the times the moment you give up is then that a breakthrough was about to happen for you. Most people give up too soon!
So if opportunities are everywhere, how do you spot
them? First and foremost there is an art in spotting an opportunity and everyone knows this art, the difference however between those that can successfully apply this art and those that can’t is in the daily activities that people engage in! Those
that can spot opportunities, know that no one person can ever succeed alone
therefore they look for potential partners, Henry Ford was one of the principals when it came to putting together a team to achieve his visions. He knew he had
limitations and to counter those limitations, his plan was to put together a
team of brilliant minds to compliment his shortcomings and he did that with
absolute aplomb! Those that can spot
opportunities, understand that they need to spend their days preparing
themselves to grab opportunities when they come, therefore they read, they have a plan,
they have worked out their plan implementation and execution strategies. It is
easier to spot an opening when you know what to look for! Opportunities are indeed
everywhere, it is just a matter of finding your specific opportunity, most often than not these opportunities seem to appear almost at random and maybe even awkward times and that is how people miss them, so how do you spot such an opportunity? First you find out what purpose do you
intend for your life to serve because we are all here to serve a purpose, once
you can figure that out then you will find your opportunity. One of the best
ways to learn about your purpose is through continuous improvement, you will
never regret the day you start improving yourself. Read and/or listen to books, learn more about things that interest you, impart any knowledge you may
have, become a society contributing member. Through your journey of self
improvement you will discover and realise some of the most important life
lessons that are going to be specific to you, those lessons will show you the
purpose you are meant to serve in this life!
Do not make the mistake of thinking that you will
stroll along life and one day you will be lucky enough and your opportunity will fall on your path, luck has nothing
to do with opportunities. Preparation has everything to do with opportunity, no
one successful person has ever claimed luck as the catalyst for their
opportunity or success. I mean even the superstars who were discovered on YouTube
it was not by luck but rather their preparations and plans got them their
opportunity, first they had talent which they excelled at then they unapologetically worked out and executed their plans and as they say the rest is
history!
